Seeing Hands Of Nepal

The Seeing Hands Clinic is a massage studio in Thamel, Kathmandu, which is completely operated by blind masseurs. At this facility the roughly 30 employees are being trained professionally by long-experienced masseurs. Not only do they hold classes, they actually supervise their students at work. The massage studio experienced a boom in the past years. There is another Seeing Hands Clinic in Pokhara, located about 200km west of Kathmandu. Many similar massage studios have opened all over Nepal.

The situation of the blind community in Nepal is difficult even in the 21th century. Many blind people spend their days at home locked up in a dark room for there are few ways to make a living or socialize outside. However, with institutions such as Seeing Hands blind Nepalis have one more opportunity to live a life in which they are not discriminated and don't rely on other people's help.
